What is NARIC

The National Academy recognition centre is a national agency responsible for providing official information on international education, training, and skills acquired outside of the UK. The new name for NARIC is ECCTIS.

Ecctis is one of the world’s leading providers of services in the recognition and evaluation of qualifications and skills. They offer solutions in the development of national education systems and frameworks for professional and student mobility. Ecctis operates official recognition services on behalf of the UK Government.

These services are for you if you are applying for one of the following visas or routes:

Family (including spouse), settlement, or citizenship/naturalization
Tier 2
Skilled Worker
Skilled Work: Health and Care
Start-up and Innovator
Minister of Religion
High Potential Individual

Naric Vrs IELTS

If you are applying for career or senior care jobs you can use ECCTIS Certificate and in that case, you don’t need IELTS. ECCIS certificate doesn’t come with an expiry date while IELTS expired in two years.

Which Citizens Need to Prove English language Proficiency?

If you come from English speaking country then you don’t need IELTS or ECCTIS. For countries where English is not the most spoken language, you’ll need to either submit your ECCTIS or IELTS certificate for visa processing.

Eligibility criteria?

If you have studied outside of the UK and hold a degree level qualification that was taught in English like a bachelor, master, or Ph.D. then you can use an English language proficiency certificate to apply for a visa in the UK.

What Services are provided by ECCTIS?

There are two services are provided by ECCTIS.

Visa and nationality service which gives you an English language certificate.
The other service is a statement of Comparability which compares your foreign degree with the UK degree.

Create an account to begin your application.
Select Visa and Nationality as the Purpose of Enquiry
Provide all the necessary information needed and submit

What Documents are Needed?

Final certificate(s) in their original language
Official Transcript(s) in their original language (student versions cannot be acepted)
Certified translations of your documents, if not in English
Medium of Instruction letter if you need to evidence your English language proficiency (this must be a separate document to your certificate or transcripts – see FAQs for details)
Proof of name change, if your current name does not match the name on your qualification documents.

How Much Does it Cost?

Visas and Nationality Service (English proficiency) cost £140.00 + VAT

How long is the ECCTIS Certificate Valid? Lifetime.

No Expiry date.

How will I receive my ECCTIS Assessment?

You will receive your statements by your chosen option – you will choose either an e-statement and/or a hard copy during the application process.

It is important to choose a delivery method that suits your needs.

Hard copies: courier deliveries are available for express international deliveries. International deliveries are subject to customs inspections. Airmail (international) and First Class post (UK) are not tracked services.

e-statement: e-statement is a digitally verifiable document. If you have ordered this, you can download it from your account once we have issued it.

The e-statement is valid to download for 3 months from the date of issue. Screenshots of the document will not prove its validity.
