GES: Update On New Vacation & Reopening Date For Basic Schools

The management of Ghana Education Service has come out with a new vacation and reopening date for all public basic schools in Ghana. In a memo update sighted by our team, all basic schools in Ghana are expected to vacate on the 16th Day of December 2022 and reopen on the 10th of January 2023.

According to the GES, the new vacation date was necessary since is to enable the Primary Four (P4) pupils to write the National Standardised Test.

VACATION DATE FOR PUBLIC BASIC SCHOOLS – THIRD TERM, 2022 ACADEMIC YEAR and RE-OPENING DATE FOR PUBLIC BASIC SCHOOLS – FIRST TERM, 2023 ACADEMIC YEAR.

Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform you that the vacation date for Public Basic Schools for the Third Term has been shifted to Friday 16 December 2022.

This is to enable the Primary Four (P4) pupils to write the National Standardised Test on Friday, 16th December 2022.

The re-opening date for the First Term of the next academic year is 10th January 2023 By this letter, Regional Directors are kindly requested to communicate this information to the Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education to inform all Heads of Basic Schools to take note and act accordingly.
