Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) Timetable For October, 2020

The National Teaching Council is mandated by the Education Act 2008 (Act 778), section 9 to improve the professional standing and status of teachers and to license and register teachers in Ghana.

Teachers who completed colleges of education and all prospective teachers in the ghana education service are expected to write and pass the GhanaTeacher Licensure Examination before they get employed into the service.

Over the years, successful exams have been conducted, and now comes another exam which was scheduled to begin in September 2020 but was later postponed for 1st and 2nd October 2020.

Management of the GTLE made it clear that the postponement was made possible because of the change in the date of the end of second-semester examination for the continuous students of the various colleges of education across the country.

The Management of the Council (NTC) entreats all prospective candidates to note that:

  • all the three papers shall be written on the same day
  • some centres chosen by candidates during registration have been changed
  • details of the centres shall be sent to candidates via SMS. Candidates may also check their centres on the NTC website (
  • candidates are to wear a face mask before, during, and after each paper
  • candidates shall follow all COVID-19 protocols including washing of hands, use of sanitizers, and observance of social distance.
  • the papers are scheduled as follow
  1. Numeracy
  2. Literacy
  3. Essential professional skills.
