TUT Students
This new mega-institution annually enrols approximately 60 000 students. Its student body is one of the most demographically representative in the country in terms of both race and gender, reflecting the Rainbow Nation in all its diversity. With almost 22 per cent of contact students accommodated in residences, the University is by far the largest residential higher education institution in Southern Africa.

TUT Campuses
Its geographic footprint covers four of South Africa’s nine provinces – Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and the North-West Province – with campuses located in Tshwane (Pretoria, Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa), Mbombela (previously called Nelspruit), eMalahleni (previously called Witbank) and Polokwane (previously called Pietersburg). Large numbers of students are also drawn from other provinces and from neighbouring countries such as Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Swaziland.

    Undergraduate and postgraduate applicants use the same online application process.
  • Hardcopy Application:
    This option is only available to undergraduate applicants.  Postgraduates need to apply online.

Tshwane University Of Technology Admission Requirements

Minimum general admission requirements for study at TUT
No person may be registered as a student in a programme of TUT, unless he or she has complied with the following

General admission requirements for TUT

  • A pass mark in English at Senior Certificate level (minimum additional language; certain programmes may require first or home language status)
  • Each course has its own specific admission requirements.
  • Prospective students should note that the admission requirements of individual programmes could change from year to year.
  • For some programmes, students will be required to write an admission test, which will determine whether they will be admitted to the programme, or whether it will be recommended to them that they enrol for a relevant foundation course.
  • The following table indicates the levels of performance required for entry to specific levels of study:

Registration

Online registration commences on January and closes on February.

If you failed a subject during 1st semester, you are not allowed to re-register the same subject for 2nd semester.

Re-examinations subject: registrations will be done automatically by the institution which implies that you shouldn’t register the subjects yourself.

You are not allowed to register a follow up subject for the 2nd semester if you passed the pre-requisite subject (example: any 2nd or 3rd year subjects) in the 1st semester.
