The management of University of Ghana, Legon, in a memo sighted has postponed the reopening date for the university for the 2024/2025 academic year. The academic year was originally schedule to begin on the 26th of September 2024.

In the memo sign by Registrar, the reason for the postponement of the academic reopening date was due to the ongoing strike by several university’s worker unions.

The new reopening date has not yet been announced. However, the university has indicated that special programmes will continue as planned while the regular academic schedule remains on hold. A new start date for the academic year will be communicated in due course.

POSTPONEMENT OF COMMENCEMENT OF 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

It is announced for the attention of students and other stakeholders that commencement of the 2024/2025 academic year has been postponed.
This is due to the ongoing strike action by various employee groupings.
Special programmes will, however, proceed as scheduled.
A new date for the commencement of the 2024/2025 academic year will be announced in due course.
