A letter sighted by our team, which was purported to have been released by the management of the Ghana Education Service, has given out the breakdown for the vacation and reopening dates for the first, second, and third terms.

In the letter, the GES wishes to remind all heads of the calendar for the 2024/2025 academic year. It also reaffirmed the suggested contact hours for basic schools in the country.

For Basic Schools (KG, Primary, JHS), the reopening and vacation dates for the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year are as follows:

First Term:
- Reopening Date: 10th September 2024
- Vacation Date: 19th December 2024
Second Term:
- Reopening Date: 8th January 2025
- Vacation Date: 17th April 2025
Third Term:
- Reopening Date: 6th May 2025
- Vacation Date: 24th July 2025

These dates apply to KG, Primary, and JHS levels.

Additionally, contact hours for basic schools are as follows:

7:00am to 2:00pm
7:30am to 2:30pm
8:00am to 3:00pm

These suggested contact hours are dependent on the peculiar circumstances of the community.
