The Director General of CTVET, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, led a media engagement yesterday 3rd November 2022 to encourage students, parents, and guardians to choose TVET in the ongoing school selection process.
With the realignment of TVET institutions to the Ministry of Education by Act 1049, consolidation of the Free SHS/TVET opportunity for all, and the my-TVET campaign, the number of vacancies declared in the 2021/2022 academic year for TVET students in public pre-tertiary institutions stood 64,641 out of which 47,319 have enrolled representing a significant increase as compared to previous years.

Dr. Asamoah mentioned that Government has also upgraded several institutions and is in the process of constructing new institutions to boost the image of TVET and make it more attractive Candidates who wish to offer purely TVET Programmes must select all six (6) TVETS schools from CATEGORY A, B, and C as Day or Boarding
He finally made an appeal to parents and guardians to take a keen interest in the school selection process.
About the 2022 SHS School Selection
- Showing of School Selection Video to BECE candidates. – 24th October 2022 to 29th October 2022
- Selection of Schools Candidates/Parents/Guardian by – 31st October 2022 to 18th November 2022
Tips For Candidates in Selecting School
- Follow the right procedures in selecting the schools in each category.
- Make sure the Schools code tally with the schools’ chosen.
- Assess your academic performance before making a choice
- Use Appendix ‘B’ as a guide to select a preferred Tech/Voc. programme (Category E)
- Never choose a day school outside your catchment area.
- Never let a café attendant select schools for you.
- Arrange your choices in order of priority (i.e 1 st -3 rd choices).
