Waec Ghana Pre Examination Activities – BECE and WASSCE 2023:

The West African Examinations Council announces for the information of its stakeholders that the Council has from Wednesday, 15th March 2023, opened the portal for the registration of candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2023and expected to be closed on Wednesday, 19th April 2023.

It further stated that the registration portal for the registration of eligible candidates will be open from Monday, 27th March to Friday, 28th April 2023.

According to Waec, the BECE for School and Private Candidates, 2023 will be administered from Monday, 7th to Friday, 11th August, 2023. Whiles the Ghana-only version of the WASSCE will be conducted from Monday, 31st July to Tuesday, 26th September, 2023.

In their subsequent social media updates, the council gives out the 2023 Pre-Examination Procedures so the general public and every stakeholder will be aware of the activities leading to the conduct of the 2023 examination. Pre-Examination Procedures (1)

  • Development of Teaching syllabus by Ghana
  • Education Service and Examinations syllabus by WAEC
  • Training of Item Writers
  • Commissioning of Item Writers/knowledgeable
  • persons/experts/professionals in the subject areas are
  • Commissioned to set questions).

Pre-Examination Procedures (2)

  • Trial testing of Items
  • Moderation of Items by experts
  • Compilation of papers by Subject Officers
  • Type, setting, proofreading, and editing
  • Printing of question papers
  • Accreditation / Recognition of Schools

Pre-Examination Procedures (3)

  • Registration of candidates (This is done online)
    School candidates are registered by Directors of Education (BECE)/ Heads of School (WASSCE).
    Private candidates register individually.
  • Centre Arrangements for the conduct of examinations
  • Submission of Continuous Assessment Scores (school examinations only)

Pre- Examination Procedures (4)

  • Briefing Courses for Heads of School and Examination
    Officials.
  • Sensitisation programme for schools/candidates
  • Packing of confidential materials

Update on The WAEC BECE and WASSCE Timetable

Earlier this week waec released the Waec BECE and WASSCE timetable

The final timetable for the examination will be made available to all schools and will be on the WAEC website as well. Candidates are advised to contact their schools or visit the WAEC website for an accurate timetable. Candidates should refrain from downloading timetables from unverifiable websites.
