ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE CONDUCT OF VISUAL ARTS PROJECT WORK

Heads of school should kindly note the arrangements for the conduct of the Visual Arts Project Work.

1. Venues for Visual Arts Project Work: All candidates will undertake the project work in their own school.

2. Itinerant Examiner: An itinerant examiner is scheduled to visit your school and mark the project work of your candidates from:

Ist Week and 2nd Week: Monday, 31st July – Friday 18th August 2023.

3rd Week: Selected schools with candidates offering a third choice Visual Arts Project option, in addition, will have the itinerant examiner visiting the school to mark that option.

Question Papers

On receipt, Heads/Supervisors should open and distribute the question papers to candidates. Heads/Supervisors
should provide the necessary materials and make arrangements for the conduct of the test.

Submission of Final Work

The finished work should be submitted to the West African Examinations Council Office in your region no later than Friday, 18th August 2023 for marking.

Heads of school, Supervisors, and Visual Arts teachers should kindly ensure strict adherence to these instructions for the smooth conduct of the test.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

(I) On receipt of question paper(s), Candidates are expected to use two (2) weeks before the actual practical test to gather information and materials needed for the project.

(2) Candidates are to prepare their worki11g drawings/evidence of study in the examination room for the Examiner to mark on the first day.

(3) Candidates are not to bring prepared/worked drawings into the examination hall.

(4) Candidates should be prepared to answer verbal questions as well as demonstrate any practical procedure when demanded by the Examiners.

(5) Candidates will be allowed five (5) days to execute each of the projects.

(6) Candidates will not be allowed access to their work after the close of the day’s work until the following day.

(7) Candidates who produce works in CLAY would have their works dried for two (2) weeks at the centre and fired before packing.

(8)Candidates are to ensure that they have appropriately labeled their works (Full Name Index Number, Question Number, Signature, and Year of Examination) and ask the Supervisor to counter-sign.

(9) Candidates will NOT be allowed access to their works after submission on the 5th Day.

INSTRUCTIONS TO SUPERVISORS

(1) Candidates are to select the project of the subject they registered for as indicated on the attendance register.

(2) Supervisors are to ensure that there are invigilators who are not Visual Arts teachers.

(3) Candidates are to produce Preliminary sketches and evidence of study on the first day.

NB: Candidates are not to be allowed to bring prepared/worked drawings into the examination hall.

(4) Candidates are to work six (6) hours a day in two (2) sessions: The first session is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon whilst the second session starts from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

(5) The work of candidates should be collected at the end of each day and kept securely.

(6) Under no circumstance should the work of candidates be made available to them after the last day of the examination.

(7) Work done in CLAY should be allowed to dry for two (2) weeks and fired before packing them.

(8) Supervisors are to ensure that each candidate has accurately and appropriately labeled his/her work (Full Name, Index Number, Question Number, Signature and Year of Examination). The Supervisors should also indicate their names and signature on each candidate’s work.

(9) The Heads of the School should endorse each candidate’s work before conveying the works to the nearest WAEC Office at a date to be communicated to the school by the Examinations Administration Department.
