The 2021 BECE Candidates Placements were released on the 26th of March, 2022.

Immediately after the release of the results, most students were lamenting due to the schools they have been placed in. Most of these students expected to be placed in schools that they think they deserved but were ‘disappointed’ by GES, CSSPS, and MoE.

We have received quite a number of complaints from the students, parents, and general public regarding this year’s placement. Most parents were not happy with the way their wards were placed.

In light of this, they are seeking answers from the management.

In our quest to help these students and their parents to understand the reason why they had such schools instead of what they expected, below are the answers we had.

  1. The 2022 SHS placement is on merit. Meaning students are placed in their various schools based on the grade obtained and the available slots in the schools selected.
  2. Maybe your first choice is a very competitive school with a higher cut-off point.
  3. Each senior high school has a quota of students they can take. This and other metrics are what the GES, MOE, and the Management of the CSSPS took into consideration before they place students in the various schools.
  4. Assuming your Ward had Aggregate 20, and his school of choices are say; Achimota SNR High, Accra Academy, Wesely Girls SNR High, T.I Ahmadiyya SNR e.t.c, These are some of the competitive schools in the country. So in this case, the student may not be auto placed r given the first choice. Hence has to do a self-placement or be placed in his/her second, third, or fourth school.
