During the training session at the district and regional level, trainees were advised to carry out the application themselves when the portal is open. That even if they go to the internet cafe to do the application, they should be the ones providing the necessary information to the cafe attendance to fill in for them.

Now the problem is, most trainees are confused as to what the career interest and statement is and how to write them during their application for the NABCO Permanent Job.

In our previous article we show trainees how to write the NABCO Core experience and expectation statement, and today we’re going to look at what the career interest and statement is and how to write the statement to suit your application.

At the glance of the NABCO career pathway portal, under the career interest and statement tab, trainees are asked to:

  • Provide a brief summary of your career interests
  • Provide a personal statement

What is a career interest statement?

Your statement of career interest is a summary of you and your future career goal. This makes it very important in your NABCO career pathway transition application. Your statement should include career interest, future professional goals, skills you’re hoping to gain in achieving your goal.

In writing this statement of career interest, one should avoid naming the specific organization as this statement will be sent out to multiple organizations. An effective statement of interest balance broader interests with areas of focus. Statements of career interest should be brief, and not more than a hundred and fifty (150)words.

See below the sample of statement of career interest.

Provide a brief summary of your career interests

Sample Response

As a BSC Commerce (Accounting ) Degree holder, with sound knowledge in IT, I want to work for a private or governmental organization that focuses on Business and Technology.

I hope to pursue a Ph.D. in Accounting Technology and other relevant professional certificates, and qualifications that would help improve my performance in a practical business environment. I hope to also explore the impacts of these subjects of study on the national economy.

Ideally, I want to gain hands-on experience and feel that my daily actions and work are contributing to the success of the organization i will be employed in.

The tasks I hope to assist with include: Big Data Analysis, Database Management, Artificial Intelligence, IT consulting, and collaborative business research efforts.

Provide a personal statement

The personal statement gives you the chance to showcase your strengths, your achievements, and share your career aspirations. Your personal statement is a small representation of who you are as a professional, and what you have to offer in terms of experience and ambition to the employing institution. Personal statements have many uses, however, the main purpose is to convey who you are, and why you’re the best person for the job.
