NABCO Trainees Schedule to Begin YouStart Programme – July 2022
In our earlier update, we gisted you about the NABCO YouStart initiative. In that update, we made mentioned that, all eligible NABCO trainees are to be moved to the Youtstart programme when it’s launched. This has now been confirmed by Information Minister.

Speaking on JoyNews, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stated that government intends to roll NABCO trainees onto the yet-to-be-launched Youstart programme, a move for sustainable approach to resolving the growing rate of unemployment in the country.
“The government has been clear that for NABCO personnels, they are going to be rolled on the YouStart programme which is aimed at ensuring that they have capital and technical support to start their own businesses”
About YouStart Programme
The YouStart Programme according to the minister of finance will shape Ghana’s economy into an entrepreneurial one. GH¢ 10 Million Ghana Cedis is expected to be injected into the initiative.
The programme seeks to support young Ghanaian entrepreneurs to gain access to capital, training, and technical skills which will enable them to start, build and grow their own businesses.
YouStart will provide the youth with the following:
- Training: Skills development, Entrepreneurial support, and Business advisory service provision.
- Funding: Access to competitive credit and starter packs;
- Enterprise Promotion: Mentoring and access to markets including portals to facilitate “digital linkages” between youth-led enterprises and other businesses and relevant Government agencies.
NABCo YouStart Initiative Application Portal
The NABCo YouStart Application Portal is not yet open. Once the portal is open, all existing NABCO trainees will automatically be transitioned into the programme. This means that NABCO trainees who are currently on the programme ‘May not’ necessarily have to apply to be considered for the YouStart programme.
Even though the portal is not yet open, trainees are advised to always adhere to the directives of their MIPs and the District coordinators so they may not miss out on this new opportunity that will come their way.
