The Scheme provides newly qualified graduates the opportunity to have practical exposure on the job, both in the public and private sectors, as part of their civic responsibility to the State.

It also provides user agencies the opportunity to satisfy their manpower needs and affords communities that would otherwise have difficulty in accessing mainstream development initiatives, access to improved social services through community service.

During the course of discharging this mandate, Personnels are being paid some monthly allowance for their upkeeping.

For the past months, the NSS Personnel allowance comes at least at the end of each month or few days after the month ends.

The January 2021 allowance for instance was paid on the 3rd February 2021. This means NSS Personnels are also expecting to get their February 2021 allowance not later than 10th March.

Today is the 15th of March and still, no payment was effected. This has become a worrying situation for these service personnel since they needed the monies for feeding and other expenditure.

In our quest to get answers to the reason why the February 2021 allowance delay, below are some of the reasons that may have caused the delay in February 2021.

The cause of the delay in payment ‘maybe’ is because of the change in the management of the Nationa Service Scheme’s Boss. If you can recall, the NSS Boss contested and won the just ended 2020 Election as a Member of Parliament for Yagaba Kuborand subsequently nominated and approved as the Minister for sports.

After his nomination and Approval, he has to hand over the affairs of the scheme to new management which may have affected the payment for the February allowance.

Also, the allowance might have been delayed because the funds have not been released for the payment. Payment for the National Service Personnel and NABCO Trainees stipends are made when the minister releases funds to the management.

So when you look at NABCO and NSS, both have not been paid for the month of February 2021. This may have been that the funds are still not released for the payment hence the delay in the payment.

Finally, maybe the funds have been released but there exist some challenges at the secretariat which are being worked on by the management and causing the delay in the payment of the allowance.

When will the NSS February 2021 Allowance be paid?

For now, can not give the exact date for the payment but what we know for sure is that the payment will be effected not later than 20th March 2021. So for now Personnel will have to be patient and wait for monies to be paid to their account then they can go and cashout.

Meanwhile, All personnel can continue to check their NSS portal for the update on their payment. Once the monies are being paid, it will show on their portal.
