Update On GES New Reopening Date For all Schools in Ghana – 7th January 2023:

Per the Ghana Education Service (GES) 2023 New Academic calendar for all Public KG-Primary/JHS and Second Cycle schools in Ghana, the reopening date for all schools as approved by the Hon. Minister for Education upon the recommendation of the Ministerial Committee on Schools Calendar are as follows:

Second Cycle Schools

SHS 3: Monday, 9th January 2023

SHS 2: Monday, 9th January 2023

SHS 1: Sunday, 20th February 2023

Basic Schools

JHS 1-3: Tuesday, 10th January 2023

Primary 1-6: Tuesday, 10th January 2023

KG 1-2: Tuesday, 10th January 2023

But due to the Statutory Holiday which falls on Monday, 9th January 2023, the management has rescheduled the reopening date for all the Senior High Schools to Tuesday, 10th January 2023 instead of Monday, 9th January 2023. All students, parents, and the general public are to take note of the new date and act accordingly.

Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform students, staff, parents, and the general public that due to the Statutory Holiday on Monday, 9th January 2023, the Senior High Schools are expected to reopen on Tuesday, 10th January 2023.

Heads of Basic schools are to note that the reopening date for primary and Junior High schools remains 10th January 2023. Students, staff, and the general public are to take note.
