Earlier this month, there have been rumors that the placement for the 2020 BECE students will be out on the 3rd of February 2020. But unfortunately, the placement wasn’t released on the earlier predicted date.

Subsequently, a new anticipated date was given by some media/blogs indicating that the GES has scheduled to release the 2020 BECE Candidate SHS placement on the 16th of February 2021.

According to the report, students who sat wrote and passed their WAEC/BECE exam for the year 2020 can begin to check their school placement on the above-given date.

Now, the new given date is approaching and students have started asking questions as to whether their placement will really be out on the 16th February 2021.

In other to get answers to these students, we will like to make some breakdown analysis concerning the BECE 2020 placement.

If you can recall,

On the 3rd of January 2021, the President in his 21st addressed to the nation on measures taken against the spread of coronavirus also touches on the school reopening dates in Ghana.

In the address, President Akuffo Addo stated that, after having a series of meetings with the cabinet and some relevant stakeholders, they’ve finally decided on the reopening dates for all schools for the KG, JHS, and SHS in Ghana.

In the Date schedules give out by the president during his address, All SHS 1 students will start classes from 10th March, with all students embarking on a single-track academic calendar.

This means SHS 1 Students (2020 BECE Students)  have barely three weeks to report to the school.

In another report, the Ghana Education service made mentioned that the 2020 BECE candidates will go to school on the 10th of March 2021.

If this turns out to be true, that means, students will have to know their placement earlier so they can prepare for the school reporting on the above mention date. Hence the release of placement this week.

Also, on the 4th February 2021, GES came out with official statements debunking the report by various blogs/media that the placement has been released.

In their statement, they assure parents, guardians, candidates,s and the general public that GES remains committed to ensuring a smooth, merit-based SHSplacement process under established guidelines and look forward to their full cooperation in this regard.

What’s not clear in the Statement was the fact that GES didn’t give the exact date the placement will be released. So taking that into consideration, one cannot say whether the placement will actually be released on the Tuesday 16th February 2021 or not.

So for now, what we know for sure is that the Placement for 2020 BECE candidates will be released before the end of February 2021 to enable these students to adequately prepare for their entry into the various Senior High Schools.
