GES 2024 Recruitment/Appointment | Current Situation Affecting Self- Posting
Earlier this month, the management of Ghana Education opened your portal for persons who qualified to be recruited into the service to log in and self-place themselves. This initiative came with some challenges; a social media post sighted by our team highlighted the following as some of the issues faced by the self-posting initiative by the current director general:

CURRENT SITUATIONS AFFECTING SELF-POSTING INITIATED BY Dr. Eric Nkansah, DIRECTOR GENERAL.
I do not intend to oppose or downgrade the system introduced; it’s a very good initiative.
1. Enemies have selected schools for some of us. We didn’t send them to do so for us. The cause of that is due to a weak security system.
2. A section of college graduates did JHS Education, but only Primary and KG were available for selection. The schools with Basic in their names were very few and some actually do not have JHS attached.
3. People who did JHS education did specialization, which they are supposed to teach in the JHS level, because of the methodology used in training them. This is to say, a trained JHS teacher must teach in Junior High School if we want to remain respectful and considerate to the new educational reform and the standard-based curriculum.
4. People who did Early Childhood and Primary Education have rather posted themselves to the JHS level. The cause of this is that the Subject area layer was not embedded in the selection process. The system is similar to SHS self-placement should have had subject specifications so that whenever an applicant enters their subject area (e.g. JHS Education and/or Visual Arts), the schools available would pop up for them to select.
5. Even though the deadline set for the portal to be closed has not reached yet, it has been inaccessible for days now with no official communication from the Ghana Education Service on why it is so.
6. Regional Offices are not giving out letters for districts instantly. Rather, they ask applicants to go home and be waiting for call from the office for the document. This is not speaking well of Ghana’s documentation processes. Imagine Kwame moving from Western Region for validation in the Volta Region, spending about ₵300 in and out on transportation and being asked to go and come back for letter. Oh this is bad in this global economic hardship. Even if he should relocate to the posting region and be waiting for the letter, what if his district is far from the regional office?
7. There are JHSs that are understaffed but they have not been uploaded on the portal for selection.
Conclusively, we are the agents of change. The innovation brought for the posting of teachers is a very significant one to help foster effective delivery of instructions. We all have to embrace it. Ghana’s educational development needs collective efforts, void of politics.
The Ghana Education Service should find a solution to those that schools were selected for by different people, and those who are Specialized in JHS education but posted to primary and KG.
