Yes, it is a reason but can we just do that without a passport? No, we can’t use only a visa to go out of the country without a valid and authentic passport.

So it is very important we know how to apply for a passport and exactly the right place to go for it.

Well, a passport is issued by the ministry of foreign affairs and regional integration to Ghanaians in accordance with the law.

These passports together with your obtained visa will give you legal travel to any part of the world.

Also, passport certifies the holder’s identity and citizenship, entitling them to have safe travels from all over the world.

Passport Application Process

There are ways of doing so but one is preferred than the other. We will discuss each way and then know the reason why one is considered safe. One has to do with the online application and the other just paperwork.

Before the introduction of the online application, applicants need to buy the application form and fill it.

This was a very monotonous process because some of the requirements were not easy to understand. This process led to people holding fake passports.

Most of them are just using this process as a mean to get their daily bread; they deliver fake passports to applicants mostly at cheap prices because they know is a fake passport.

Another negative aspect of it is that it leads to a lot of queue at the passport center which often leads to fights and disorganization with a lot of pressure on the workers.

Let us see how to apply for passports online in Ghana and some of the requirements.

Applying for a passport online is the safest way in these times of fake people who always deliver for their own benefit. The process to apply is very simple and when you follow it, you will be safe.

The first thing to do is to visit the passport application portal and click on the sign up to create your account. Provide all the needed information correctly and then confirm your account either by email sent to you or code sent via SMS in the confirmation box. Take note of the username and the password you used for signing up.

After you have confirmed your account, open the portal again. This time you are to click on the login button. There will be space provided to enter username and password, type in the username and the password you used for creating the account. After you log in, click on start new passport application to get work on progress.

Once you start a new application, you have to fill the form. Take note of essential information and complete all mandatory space. When you finish filling the form, go over and over to make sure that there are no errors or inaccurate information.

Now you’ll need to book an appointment by visiting the application centre. Here I advise that applicants should select application centers close to them, you can decide to select the one you prefer. Make a date and visit the center for the verifications of your documents and to take biometric details. You can then print the final document and take it to your guarantor to fill while you wait for your appointment date.

Once you have signed forms, you can present yourself on the appointment day to the center you chose. Your documents will be verified and your biometric details will also be taken. After the appointment, the PAC will indicate when your passport will be ready for collection.

After everything is set and done, you will receive an SMS once your passport is ready for collection. When you receive this message, you will have to visit the passport application center you did your biometrics at to claim your completed Ghana passport.

Documents to support identity such as driver’s license, National ID card
Proof of profession (documents or cards the contains applicants name, profession and the organization and even the position the person’s position. The student should present their ID if they are currently in school. Those in non-formal organizations do not need to provide any proof since in non-formal).
