Earlier, there was a report regarding the president of the Institute for liberty and policy innovation (ILAPI) Stating that It is financially unwise and a burden to the economy to give NABCO beneficiaries permanent employment.

To him, the trainees should rather be encouraged to venture into entrepreneurship since that will be more beneficial to the country than the permanent job.

In a new development, an expert in labour, Mr. Ben Arthur stated that “70,000 is not too much of a figure, especially when the target is to put the NABCO Trainees into productive areas.”

Mr. Ben Arthur commended the initiative by the government to absorb the more than 70,000 NABCO trainees into the public sector, when their tenure ends in October 2021.

“We must, first of all, commend the government for taking such an initiative. The main aim was to create an incubation period and space for people to get work experience and to work, so if the President has honoured his promise by going ahead to absorb all of them, I think we have to commend the government for doing that,” Mr. Arthur stated.

According to the labour expert, he doesn’t see anything wrong with absorbing the current NABCO trainees into permanent employment but his advice is that they should rather be given the necessary tools and materials to be able to deliver on target of productivity.

“I don’t think it is anything that is going to be difficult, what I will advise the government to do basically is that, as you absorb them, also make sure that they have the necessary tools and materials to be able to deliver on target of productivity.”

“My little advice for the next batch will be possible for the government to focus on more of entrepreneurial training, that even as we incubate, we will give them more of entrepreneurial training so that they will not also end up being absorbed, just into the public service, but they can also come out and create jobs for themselves and more for others.”

“For my colleagues who will be beneficiaries of this package, my advice is that they should work hard to justify the President’s confidence in them. I have an absolute belief that they will be able to deliver,” Mr. Arthur added.
