A letter sighted by our team which was purported to have been released by the management of the Ghana Education Service has given out the breakdown for the vacation and reopening dates for the first, second, and third terms.

In the letter, the GES wishes to remind all heads of the calendar for the 2023/2024 academic year. It also reaffirmed the suggested contact hours for basic schools in the country.

Reminder: Academic CALENDAR FOR 2023/2024

Management of the GES sends its compliments to all staff and wishes to thank them for their unflinching support in implementing education policies.

As the school year comes to a close for basic schools – KG, Primary and Junior High Schools, we wish to remind all heads of the calendar for the 2023 Academic Year.

First term: October 2023–December 2023

Second Term: 9th January, 2024; 11th April, 2024

Third Term: April 30, 2024July 20, 2024

Additionally, contact hours for basic schools are as follows:

7:00am to 2:00pm
7:30am to 2:30pm
8:00am to 3:00pm

These suggested contact hours are dependent on the peculiar circumstances of the community.

By this letter, Regional Directors of Education are to communicate to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education to ensure that leads of Basic Schools take note and implement. Thank you
