NABCO Today’s Update: RMTs to Rollout Intensive Monitoring Strategies

The Nation Builders Corps programme (NABCO) has been one of the best initiatives by the current government since its initiation. According to Platform for Economic Research (PER), a Think Tank organization, Nation Builders Corps is “excellent” because it has “ameliorated the unemployment situation the government inherited drastically”.

A pogramme which has gathered a lot of applauds from the general public along the line, seem not to be working as it used to be. Trainees who have worked for the past three months are yet to get their payment.

As if that’s not enough, some trainees also get worried as the programmme is coming to an end and there still no sign of them being absorbed into permanent employment as promised in their exit pathways.

For the past three months, activities of NABCO seem to have been halted because there has been no proper communication from the NABCO headquarters, Regional or district offices regarding the programme.

Recent development shows that the management of NABCO has been working seriously behind the scene to make sure the programme achieve its aim and also do away with all irregularities that have been going on within the programme.

The Management of NABCO recently sent a bulk warning message to all trainees instructing those who have been permanently employed by the Government or are no more on the programme to decline from the programme or face the law when caught.

In another development, it was affirmed that the CEO and some of the relevant stakeholders are in discussion on how to strengthen the monitoring team of the NABCO at the various regional and district levels.

A series of pictures was sighted by our team in a social media post showing the NABCO Boss, together with other members of the HQ in a meeting with the RMTs of the Northern Zone to discuss further the Monitoring and evaluation of trainees.

On Tuesday, 22nd June 2021, CEO Dr. Ibrahim Anyars led a team to train NABCO Zonal Monitors for the Northern Zone(Upper East, Upper West, Northern, Savannah, and North East Regions).

This was to equip the RMTs rollout intensive monitoring strategies. #StayHumble

Unconfirmed Development:

All Eligible trainees will get an extension this year
Line managers will endorse trainees as means of trainees working experience
A monitoring team from the Secretariat to report on trainees performance on the basis of “Trainee LOGBOOK”
Trainees welfare such as SSNIT to take effect from extension
Payment to be moved from the presidency to finance ministry
Payments including arrears to be settled by the month within an extension.
Ultimatum has been giving to the CEO to pay the April stipend this week.
