Most people were of the view that the government can not run the programme successfully while others also had faith in the government. Today the NABCO programme is at its final year as per the contract letter given to these trainees.

In 2019, there were some challenges with the NABCO payment system as trainees will have to always cry before their stipends are paid. But 2020 came with hope and most of the stipend payment challenges including the delay in the payment of the stipends were solved.

As of March 2020 to November 2020,  NABCO trainees were receiving their Monthly stipends in time until December 2020.

At the early dates of December 2020, there have been some rumors concerning the payment of December 2020 stipends. Most trainees were informed that the December 2020 stipends will be paid early so trainees can have some monies to celebrate their Christmas.

These trainees kept their hope alive not until December 24th-25th came to pass without payment. Today being the 14th of January 2021 but still, the monies which were expected to hit their accounts before 24th December 2020 was still not coming.

A situation which has turned to be a worrisome thing to many trainees. For the past weeks, all NABCO trainees Social media platform was full-on complaints regarding the December 2020 stipends.

Some trainees even threaten to embark on a demonstration if their monies are not paid before some specified dates. Whiles others also cried of the value of the monthly stipends in 2018 as against 2021.

One of the trainees wrote:

“The value of GH¢699.25 is not the same as it was in 2018. The sadder part is, there is also no sign of increasing it to meet the current economic demands. The worst of it all is, it is not paid early. So what sin did we commit as NABCO trainees to deserve this treatment???”

Then a couple of Comments were also made to bitterest the fact that, yes trainees are really suffering due to the delay in the December 2020 stipend payment.

“Mr Anyars why😠😠😭today me and my guy ate fufu without meat…. Adwuma bi nie eiiii graduates paaa apuuu only in Ghana”

“If the government can’t pay anymore they should be bold and terminate the contract for people to know that they no more going to cry for this peanut when the months ends”

“NABCO we are pleading we are dying of hunger”

“It’s the beginning of a new week and once again trainees would be praying and hoping for their stripends to be paid only for our hopes to be dashed when the week comes to an end. Why should we have to suffer before we are paid what we have worked hard to earn. Its high time we unite and fight for our rights because we are also Ghanaians and we deserve better.”

The last comment which catches our attention is the one below.

20th December- processing payment
Christmas eve- processing payment

Some of us have responsibilities. Some of us have put our last kwatakwata hope in this stipend to drop today or tomorrow or else people will die.
PLEASE, AND PLEASE AGAIN

We naaa said 4 more, 4 more
Please don’t let us eat sand.
Thank you
