NABCO was nascence by the administration of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo in line with his promise to provide sustainable jobs for teeming unemployed graduates during his 2016 political campaign.

The NABCO initiative is seen to be adhoc, a stepping stone to acquire skills and experience for future job opportunities, therefore NABCO is a temporal solution to graduates’ unemployment situation though its impacts on beneficiaries of the program can not be evaluated.

Not long ago, the initiator of the program promised heavenly to mechanize the scheme in his second term in government. In view of this, a virtual portal was developed to provide steps for trainees to follow accordingly to seek permanent employment or venture into entrepreneurship and further learning before the commencement of the 2020 elections.

This development by Akuffo Addo’s government was laudable as far as sustainable jobs for graduates are concerned. Interestingly, At the beginning of this year, the daily prayer of NABCO trainees has been to see the manifestation of permanent employment agenda by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

Since the inception of Ghana, the political promise has become a tool for convincing electorates for winning elections, but after elections, the promise becomes a thing of the past without taking care of.

The rampant failure of political parties to deliver in accordance with party promises respectfully has created some element of mistrust in many NABCO trainees. Nevertheless, NABCO trainees have a little smooth stone of faith that the pledge to absorb them permanently by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo will not be mendacity but the truth.

Honestly speaking, the sacrifices NABCO trainees have made for the past three years qualify them to be integrated into the mainstream. It is conspicuously clear that the benefits of the NABCO scheme can not be challenged or politicized negatively, however poor condition of service especially, abnormality in payment of scrimpy GH700.00 as monthly allowance can also not be overlooked.

In all, NABCO trainees have dedicated a high level of patriotism to serve mother Ghana and must be honored and appreciated by assigning qualified trainees into regular employment in their various institutions without flimsy exculpation when the said time is due.

I would like to urge the media fraternity to follow up and add their voice to the development of the NABCO exit plan since the media was the medium for such promise by the NPP administration to NABCO trainees.

Three years of service must lead to permanent employment Not unemployment.

Three years in NABCO is more extensive than three years in a college of education that do automatic postings.

Graduates from lower-income homes also matter.

The system must work for the youth.

The Pledge To Absorb NABCO Trainees Must Not Be Prevarication But The Verity.
